Warning Signs That You May Need a New Therapist

This video is all about the warning signs of when you may need a new therapist or a break from therapy. This topic is very important to me. I never really saw a list of these warning signs and didn't know going into therapy how to spot a professional working relationship that is losing it's benefits. I hope this video can help others in their future therapy efforts!

Here are the signs:

(05:00) You leave most sessions feeling anxious and like you need to make a bunch of changes immediately.

(08:35) The therapist develops personal opinions about the people in your life and shares them with you without being prompted.

(12:25) You go to therapy because you feeling guilty not seeing them.

(15:20) Payment is not consistent or made easy.

(17:50) You go frequently with no improvement or benefit to your mental health, wellness, or overall mood.

(20:15) You are stuck in a cycle of storytelling and reporting.

(23:30) The therapist keeps going back to your childhood or a childhood event.

(25:40) They push you when you specifically ask for certain boundaries, especially if you are in a delicate emotional state.

(30:00) The therapist gives you medical advice without doing research or brushing up on the topic.

Please take any of these warning signs into consideration while working with a therapist. Contemplate the signs and see if you think it's time to see someone new or take a break from therapy.
